Three-year-old Dáithí floors Olympic medallist Barnes

Little Dáithí MacGabhann steals the show at the Ulster Elite Boxing finals in Belfast by sending Olympic Games bronze medallist Paddy Barnes crashing to the canvas. The three-year-old, who requires a heart transplant after being born with a congenital defect, threw a few sweet jabs before a big hook accounted for Barnes. Young Dáithí Mac Gabhann got the Ulster Elite Boxing finals off to a knockout start at the Ulster Hall tonight. The 3-year-old stole the show at the Ulster Elite Boxing finals in Belfast by sending Olympic Games bronze medallist Paddy Barnes crashing to the canvas. The three-year-old, who requires a heart transplant after being born with a congenital defect, went straight at the former world title challenger and decorated amateur, the pair traded blows before a big hook accounted for Barnes and prompted the biggest cheer of an action packed night. WEST Belfast toddler Dáithí Mac Gabhann took to the ring with boxer Paddy Barnes last night, knocking him to the floor at the Ulster Hall. The three-year-old stole the show at the Ulster Elite Boxing finals as he faced the Olympic Games bronze medallist. And it was the little boy who got the biggest cheer of the night as he sent Barnes to the floor with a few cheeky jabs as he made his ring debut at the famous Belfast venue. Born with hypoplastic left heart syndrome, Dáithí has already undergone a number of major surgeries and has been on the waiting list for a new heart for more than 600 days. Full Story Here

I got to meet a real hero in young Dáithí – John Aldridge

My trip to Anfield for the FA Cup fourth-round replay against Shrewsbury on Tuesday night will live with me for a long time as I met an incredible battler in three-year-old soccer fan Dáithí Mac Gabhann. Belfast-born Dáithí has been waiting for a heart transplant for over 600 days and his wonderful family are hoping someone out there in Ireland can give him the incredible gift he needs. On Tuesday evening we had the pleasure of meeting a Liverpool FC legend in John Aldridge. It was a dream come true for us to bring Dáithí to Anfield, and the evening was made even more special by meeting Aldo. John was eager to help our campaign in any way he could and we were pleasantly surprised when we appeared in his column in the Irish Independent. We never imagined that our campaign would feature in an article about the difficulties that Pep Guardiola is facing at Manchester City FC; written by an LFC legend and gentleman. Full Article here
